Welcome to the XS/FS Recruitment Server
At XS/FS, we study how individuals and groups make choices in a variety of situations. Our goals are to gain insights into how decisions are made, and to inform policy making in economics, political science, and business. We invite you to participate in our research by signing up for our subject pool. You can earn a little money, have some fun, and help research at COSS!
After signing up, you will receive e-mails announcing upcoming experiments. These e-mails give details on the experimental sessions, as well as a link allowing you to sign up for available sessions. Registering for the subject pool does not obligate you to participate in any experiments. Participation is purely voluntary, and we bear no ill will towards anyone who doesn’t volunteer. If you decide you no longer wish to receive any e-mails, you can remove yourself from the subject pool by following the link at the bottom of the e-mail.
Experiments last anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours (the announcement email tells you when the session will start and how long it will last) and are conducted at a variety of times during the week. You will earn a guaranteed $5-$10 for participating in a session (the exact amount depends on the length of the session and will be contained in the announcement email), as well as additional earnings while making decisions in the experiment. The exact amount of money you earn will depend on the rules of the experiment, your decisions, and possibly decisions made by other participants. Typically, subjects earn between $10-$15 per hour on average. Individual earnings in any given session may vary and, therefore, this amount is not guaranteed.
How to sign up
Current FSU Students: If you are a student at Florida State University, you can sign up to participate in future experiments and earn money for doing so.
Step 1: Please click on the Sign Up link in the menu on the left. To register, please select the "Current FSU students" link. You will need to provide your name and e-mail address. You must use your FSU e-mail address ending with @fsu.edu
Step 2: Once you register, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a link. Click on that link to confirm your registration. Without confirmation, your registration will not be activated, and you will not be able to participate in experiments.
These experiments are in no way a test related to any class. Your instructors won’t know whether you participate in our experiments, nor will they know any of your decisions in the experiments.
